Everton midfielder Andre Gomes has moved back to Goodison Park this summer.

Everton's Andre Gomes

Andre Gomes has told the Alan Myers Everton Podcast that he absolutely loves Everton’s fans.

Everton signed Gomes on a permanent deal this summer for £22 million (Sky Sports), after the midfielder enjoyed a brilliant loan spell at Goodison Park last term.

Gomes was one of Everton’s very best performers last season, as the Portuguese midfielder immediately adapted to life in the Premier League.

And Gomes has claimed that Everton fans were a major reason why he was able to settle on Merseyside so quickly.

“It was love at first sight [with the fans] and I would say that is true since day one,” Gomes said.

“I came with an injury, I was out for 10-12 weeks at least and when I came back everyone was excited to know more about me and see me play.

“They gave me love and respect from that moment. I was really happy and felt like I was playing at home and that is a really good feeling when you are playing football.”

Getting Gomes to re-sign has arguably been Everton’s most important transfer move of the summer so far.

The 25-year-old’s quality is well known at Everton, and he will surely play a key role upon his return to Goodison Park.

Gomes may well have a new midfield partner at Everton next season though.

It seems that Idrissa Gueye is heading towards the exit door with the Toffees, with Le Parisien suggesting he is on the verge of a move to PSG.
