Andre Gomes comments on his Everton future

Andre Gomes joined Everton on loan from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

Barcelona-owned Everton central midfielder Andre Gomes has told Sky Sports that he will not make a decision on his future until the end of the season.

Gomes joined Everton on a season-long loan deal from Spanish and European giants Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old central midfielder has played just twice in the Premier League for the Toffees so far this season, but the performances of the Portugal international have been very encouraging.

Gomes has said that has settled in well at Goodison Park, but the midfielder wants to wait until the end of the season to make a decision on his future.

When asked if he would like to make his loan move to Everton permanent, Gomes told Sky Sports: “We need to discuss that at the end of the season of course with Everton, with Barcelona and see if Everton are happy with me. That is really important.

“But I’m enjoying it here with my new team-mates, with the team, with the fans and with the staff.

“I’m really happy right now and I want to keep it like that until the end of the season and give my best. Then at the end of the season we will decide.”

Future at Everton?

It is too early to judge Gomes at Everton given that he has played just twice in the Premier League for the Toffees.

However, the signs are very positive, and one should not be surprised if the former Valencia star establishes himself as an important player in Marco Silva’s team as the season progresses.

Gomes’s time at Barcelona has not been great, and the Spanish giants will probably be happy to cash in on the midfielder at the end of the season.
