West Ham record signing Andre Ayew has returned to former club Marseille for treatment for current thigh injury.

The former Ligue 1 star picked up a thigh injury in the opening game of the season against Chelsea and it was expected that he would be out of action for four months.
Given the way West Ham like to play under Bilic, it seemed as though Ayew was a perfect fit for the Hammers, the Ghana international has the ability to play in behind and stretch teams as well as holding up the ball to bring midfielders into the game.
And now L’Equipe has revealed that Ayew has been allowed by his employers to return to Marseille to undergo more rehab on the problem.
Ayew has asked the club if he could return to the South of France so he can work in facilities he has used before as well as with people who have helped him in the past, but the East Londoners will be counting down the days until he returns.
It’s been a troubling time for Slaven Bilic who has seen Ayew and Andy Carroll nurse injuries which have sidelined them for the opening months of the season, which has no doubt impacted their start to the Premier League campaign.

West Ham were forced into signing Simone Zaza from Juventus after the two injuries but the forward has failed to set the world alight so far.
With the likes of Manuel Lanzini, Dimitri Payet and Michail Antonio, Ayew would’ve got the correct service and with his ability to play different styles would’ve made United very unpredictable to play against. At the moment play seems very one dimensional and laboured going forward with a lack of movement from their focal point Zaza.
Despite having good 45 minutes in both Watford and West Bromwich Albion games, it’s a concern that Bilic is unable to sustain a complete performance over 90 minutes, and some would question as to whether he has the right balance on the pitch, some thing a player of Ayew’s quality could help offer.
Zaza still needs to develop his game to come to terms with the Premier League and the club lacks an identity as to what style West Ham should play when he’s on the pitch.
Ayew is still some way off being back on the pitch for the Hammers but the sooner the West Ham faithful see him back in the Claret & Blue the better.
