West Ham United forward Andre Ayew has told the club’s official website that his friends were impressed with the Hammers fans against Arsenal.
The Hammers went into the game having beaten Stoke City 3-0 on Saturday afternoon, but couldn’t transfer their Premier League momentum into their Carabao Cup tie against Arsenal.
Danny Welbeck’s first-half winner gave Arsenal a passage into the semi-finals of the competition, dumping West Ham out in a 1-0 win for the Gunners.

West Ham boss David Moyes will be disappointed with his side’s display, given that they had just 33% of possession whilst recording one shot on goal, no shots on target and just one corner.
The travelling Hammers fans may not have been quite as impressed with the performance as they were against Stoke just days ago, but they have been given some huge plaudits.
West Ham attacker Andre Ayew spoke to the club’s official website after the final whistle at the Emirates Stadium, and revealed that his friends messaged him about the ‘unbelievable’ West Ham fans, claiming they were on fire.

Ayew added that he is disappointed that West Ham couldn’t send the fans home happy, like they did with their 3-2 win over Tottenham at Wembley earlier in the competition, but vowed to keep working hard for the supporters.
“We’re quite disappointed to be out of the cup because I think we could have gone a step further,” said Ayew. “The fans were unbelievable. My friends, they sent me a message afterwards saying West Ham fans are on fire!”
“I’m disappointed we couldn’t make them happy, like we did at Wembley, but we want to thank them for coming and for their support. We’re going to keep running and playing and trying to give them better football to make them happy,” he added.
