West Ham United were beaten 2-0 by Everton on Sunday at Goodison Park.

West Ham United’s Andre Ayew has told the Evening Standard that he and his teammates cannot let the defeat to Everton take the shine off the good work they had done in their previous games.

The Ghanaian came off the bench in the Hammers’ 2-0 defeat to Ronald Koeman’s side at Goodison Park, and West Ham have now dropped down to 17th.

However, Ayew believes the club must remain upbeat after their strong run of results before the defeat to Everton.

“We cannot forget the work we have put into the last three games because of one defeat and Everton are a good team,” Ayew told the Evening Standard.

“We need to learn from our mistakes and get back to winning ways against Stoke.”

Before the loss on Sunday, West Ham had gone four games unbeaten in both league and cup, including two victories at their new stadium where they had previously struggled, and it looked as though Slaven Bilic’s side had turned their fortunes around.

The defeat will certainly be a setback for the Hammers, but as Ayew said, Everton are a very strong side this season under Koeman, and the 2-0 loss should not have fans or players worrying that they are heading for another slump this season, having started poorly.

Next up for West Ham is Stoke City, who themselves have had an upturn in results after a rocky start to the Premier League season. Mark Hughes’ side have now won three games on the bounce, so the clash at the London Stadium will see two sides who have re-found their form going head-to-head.
