Andre Ayew has made four appearances for West Ham United to date.
Andre Ayew has admitted to West Ham United’s official website that he is not yet at his best.
Ayew picked up an injury on his West Ham debut, and he has only just started to make his comeback.
The Ghanian international made his first start since August during West Ham’s 1-1 draw with Stoke City last weekend.
And Ayew said: “The fitness is coming back. I am not yet at my best, but it’s only with games that I will get back to my best. It was a very important injury [that I suffered], but I am getting back and hopefully pretty soon I will be at 100 per cent.
“I more or less know the team and how we want to play, so now it’s about me getting 100 per cent fit and after that I can bring my quality to the squad.
“I am very confident and we have great players in the team and great management so hopefully everything will be OK very soon.”
Ayew is yet to score for West Ham in his first four appearances, but his return is a boost for Slaven Bilic’s side.
The Hammers have failed to find a potent scorer so far this season, with many of their attacking players failing to show their best form.
Michail Antonio has had to be used by West Ham as an emergency striker in recent weeks, with Bilic’s options so limited.
Ayew scored 12 goals for Swansea City in the Premier League last season, before moving to the Hammers last summer.
Ayew’s next action is likely to come in West Ham’s match against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane after the international break.
