New Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has revealed what he expects from his players.

Andoni Iraola has publicly explained what he is going to demand from his Bournemouth players on the pitch this season.

Iraola said, as quoted by the Daily Echo, “the way we want to play, we need everyone involved. Everyone involved offensively and everyone involved defensively…we want to maintain this because we start from there and if everyone is committed, we can survive better…our ideas are more collective…how can I help my team, that’s what I want my players to think.”

The Spanish coach has taken charge of a group of players full of confidence at the Vitality Stadium. The squad will still be on a high after securing Premier League survival last time out. However, the Cherries face a tough test in repeating the trick a second time around. It will also take some time for the players to adjust to Iraola’s approach.

Iraola looking for qualities Bournemouth will need

The collectivity of spirit that Iraola has discussed will be key if Bournemouth are to once again avoid the drop. The team will need to work hard, and work for each other, to carve out positive results against technically superior teams. There will also need to be unity and belief within the group, that they can fall back on when the periods of poor form inevitably arrive.

Iraola has clearly made it a priority to instil these virtues amongst his new charges. These desired qualities will regulate the club’s decisions in the transfer market, too. Plenty of intelligence is gathered on prospective new recruits these days, and Bournemouth will only want to sign players who they feel have the right mentality and attitude to work well within Iraola’s philosophy.
