Manchester United midfielder Anderson has sent a message to the fans of Fiorentina as his loan in Italy draws to a close.

Manchester United midfielder Anderson has posted a video and a message to the Fiorentina fans on his official Instagram account as his loan move in Italy nears its end.

The Brazilian made the temporary move to Serie A in January, having failed to live up to expectations at Old Trafford. But despite some feeling the move could be the making of him, the 26-year-old has also struggled in Florence, in no small part due to injury.

Anderson has failed to play a full 90 minutes since his loan began. He started matches against Cagliari, Atalanta, Juventus and Chievo Verona but failed to see much past the hour-mark on any of those occasions.

He then suffered a calf injury which ruled him out for three matches, and despite making his return against Udinese he has not played a single minute in Serie A since April 6.

He has also failed to score or set up a single goal since his arrival, begging the question: What is next for a player Sir Alex Ferguson once hinted could follow in the footsteps of Paul Scholes?

Anderson has a contract at United until the summer of 2015. But he is unlikely to see much game-time given the midfielders tipped to arrive this summer.

But whatever happens, for now he appears focused on Fiorentina, posting the following message to their fans on Sunday morning:

‘Thanks Fiorentina fans for the strength and all the emotions that you made me live in these five months here in this wonderful company.’
