Everton-owned striker Henry Onyekuru appears to have gotten on the wrong side of his Anderlecht boss.

From an outside perspective, you’d assume everything is going perfectly for Henry Onyekuru at Anderlecht.

Not only has the 20-year-old scored seven times for the club, he has also attracted the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe with Manchester United, Barcelona and Juventus among those who have reportedly watched Onyekuru in action in recent weeks according to HLN.

But the striker, who is on loan at Anderlecht from Everton as he aims to obtain a work permit in order to play in the Premier League, still has one or two critics to win over – including his very own manager.

‘I expect more’

“Henry has to stop thinking that he’s only about goals. The sum of his dribbles must be positive after 90 minutes, not negative as they are now,” Hein Vanhaezebrouck told Het Belang Van Limburg after the weekend’s 4-0 win against Kortrijk.

“If he has so much space and as little resistance, like against Kortrijk, he should avoid simple ball losses. Yes, last week against Mouscron he scored the winning goal, but I expect more from him.”

Perhaps this is simply a motivational tactic from a manager aiming to eke every ounce of potential out of a young player who has a huge future in the game.

Or perhaps Onyekuru’s selfish streak is something Everton need to watch out for as they prepare to welcome the Nigerian, who idolises Thierry Henry so much he wears his first name on the back of his shirt, to Merseyside at the end of this season.

Onyekuru may be a huge talent but he clearly has a lot to learn.
