Fabinho’s wife, Rebeca Tavares, has stated that she wasn’t prepared to say goodbye to Liverpool after the midfielder’s transfer to Saudi Arabia side, Al-Ittihad.
The 29-year-old, who spent five years at Liverpool, wrote his name into the legendary books at Anfield by winning the lot, including Champions League glory in Madrid and the Premier League title.
But now Fabinho has to start a new chapter in his career, with his wife, Rebeca Tavares, taking to Instagram to tell fans ‘what a beautiful story we made here’.
When the defensive-minded midfielder first arrived at the club, they were heading towards nearly three decades of not being champions of England.
But the now departed midfield of Gini Wijnaldum, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson suffocated opponents, and allowed the rest of the team to sing, as they stopped the might of Manchester City from becoming champions.
The Reds are still the last team to stop Pep Guardiola’s side from winning the title, with Rebeca Tavares reacting to her husband’s recent exit and move to Saudi Arabia.

“My heart it’s beating fast…” said Rebeca Tavares. “I was not prepared to say goodbye (and I’m not ) but this is life, this is football.
“What a beautiful history we made here. What a history “lighthouse” made here. ONCE A RED, ALWAYS A RED. My son will know about you, Anfield. #ynwa , never!!! THANK YOU FOR ALL THE SUPPORT AND LOVE.”
Who replaces Fabinho at Liverpool?
His name could be Romeo Lavia – a recent transfer update was dropped in Liverpool’s big push to sign the Southampton teenager.
The last time the Reds signed a relegated midfield player, his name was Gini Wijnaldum, so that proves going down this road for Jurgen Klopp works.
If Lavia comes in, he wouldn’t be a direct replacement for Fabinho, it would be a case of Lavia, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, along with Harvey Elliott and Curtis Jones, trying to fill the void that is now left from the departed senior duo.
