Carlo Ancelotti has told Everton’s official website that Cenk Tosun is now part of his plans, but he needs to get fitter.

Tosun was sent out on loan by Everton to Crystal Palace last term, and it seemed that his time at Goodison Park was coming to an end.

However, the Turkish striker was backed to come off the bench for the Toffees, as they searched for a route back into their game against Newcastle United yesterday.

Although Tosun couldn’t help Everton falling to a 2-1 defeat, he did at least give them more of a threat in the final stages.

And Ancelotti went on to praise the ability of the forward after the game.

He said: “We need Cenk for some games, he’s a good striker in the box and very efficient. It’s good to have him back, but he has to improve his condition.”

Tosun is only likely to be awarded with a back-up role at Everton this term, but that is still a promotion for him.

Tosun started the season completely out of the plans, but it seems that he could be given some game time in the coming weeks.

Everton have now failed to win any of their last three league matches, with their next game coming against Manchester United on Saturday.
