Carlo Ancelotti has stated that Everton ‘have to check’ whether they can play Allan against West Brom today, as he told Wednesday’s pre-match press conference.
The Italian lauded his combative midfielder and shared that he is someone who is consistent ‘all the time’.
Allan returned to action for Everton on Monday night after two months out and helped his side record a win against Southampton.
But with the West Brom game coming in such a quick turnaround, Ancelotti made it clear that they have to be wary about how they deal with the 30-year-old.
“I am sure it was good (return from Allan) because maybe after two months you are not fit 100%,” said Ancelotti. “But the staff work hard on him.
“He was fit and in good condition. Motivated. He wanted to play. Now, of course, he is a player we have to check today to see if he has recovered properly and see if he can play (against West Brom).
“So, we have to take care a little bit after two months out. But his performance was really, really good, as usual.
“Allan is always like this. His performance is consistency all the time. He’s not up and down. Maybe players have better technical quality but his consistency is really high and always at the top.”

Whilst other players, such as James Rodriguez, who are easy on the eye, get the plaudits, an individual such as Allan goes under the radar.
The former Napoli man is like a Pac-Man in the middle of the park, where he is eating away at everything by ensuring his backline are protected and those in front of him are fed.
Allan’s defensive positioning and then ability to sense danger is one of the best in the Premier League, not forgetting the sheer work he puts into games, which makes him a nightmare to play against.
