Joe Hart has claimed on his Instagram story that he is ‘glad’ that he has been able to ‘inspire’ his Tottenham teammate Dele Alli this summer.

The Spurs midfielder recently posted a clip on Instagram of him training and looking ripped ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

The Tottenham players, who aren’t involved in Euro 2020 or the Copa America, are due back for pre-season on Tuesday.

And ahead of their return, Hart, 34, who has posted several Instagram posts of him training hard over the summer, wrote this following message to Alli:

“I’m glad an old man like me inspired you this summer,” said Hart. “See you in the morning.”

This is a big season for Alli because if he struggles to get going under Nuno Espirito Santo then big questions will be asked of him.

Alli’s decline didn’t start under Jose Mourinho but towards the end of Mauricio Pochettino’s reign.

So, all the criticism will come his way if he’s unable to showcase those goalscoring talents he displayed during his early years at White Hart Lane.

It would help Alli’s cause if Harry Kane stays in North London this season because, like the rest of the Spurs squad, they will be hit hard if he does indeed depart.

But as Jesse Lingard proved last season, it’s very possible to come back out of the wilderness and remind the world of your talents.
