Orlando City SC‘s Chris Mueller impressed with an outstanding MLS IS Back Tournament performance against New York City FC – prompting lavish praise on social media.

Mueller hit two goals in the first ten minutes as Orlando stunned NYC FC with an impressive start to the Group A encounter.

The first of Mueller’s brace was a superbly taken side footed volley in the fourth minute. The second, a calm finish from close range to place the ball past NYC FC’s goalkeeper Sean Johnson.

Mueller almost completed what would have been a remarkable first half hat-trick, but his 42nd minute header hit the cross bar.

The 23-year-old Mueller has become an increasingly significant member of Orlando’s roster since making his MLS debut in 2018. However, it is his 2020 form that has been noticeably impressive.

Mueller’s strikes against New York made it three goals in two games. Before his showing against NYC FC, Mueller scored the equalizer against Inter Miami in Orlando’s previous MLS Is Back Tournament match.
