Amid West Ham links, is Josh Tymon no longer Tottenham Hotspur’s priority?

Hull City’s teenage left-back Josh Tymon may have been usurped by Ryan Sessegnon as Tottenham Hotspur’s main target.

Josh Tymon had not even made his senior league debut when Tottenham Hotspur first expressed their interest in May last year, as reported by ESPN.

Yet, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is a master when it comes to identifying young talent. So if Hull City’s 17-year-old left-back was on Tottenham’s radar, then he was clearly something special.

Not that he’s been given too many opportunities to prove his potential this season. Tymon may have made his Premier League debut against Sunderland in November, scoring his maiden senior goal in an FA Cup clash with Swansea City two months later, but a total of eleven appearances under Mike Phelan and Marco Silva suggest he has some way to go before regular first-team action beckons.

Although, according to the Daily Mail, that has not stopped Tottenham’s London rivals West Ham from jumping to the front of the queue. Furthermore, the fact that Tymon is currently on a measly £160-a-week at Hull, and has not yet secured a professional deal, means there’s a high chance he could move on in the summer.

The Hammers have embarked on something of a homegrown recruitment drive recently and, with Nathan Holland, Ashley Fletcher and Sam Byram already in the bag, the Hull-born England Under-17 international would fit the bill.

However, you wonder whether he has fallen down Tottenham’s list of priorities. Especially since a certain Ryan Sessegnon, a year younger at just 16, has exploded onto the scene.

The Daily Mail claim that one of the most exciting young talents in Europe, who has scored six times this season from a nominally left-back position, is now one of Spurs’ primary transfer targets.

Sessegnon would certainly cost a lot more than Tymon but talents this remarkable don’t come around too often. If Spurs had a choice between the two, they would surely bite your hand off for Fulham’s prized asset.
