Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama was subject of surprise transfer speculation late last week linking him with a move away from the club.

The Mail report Wanyama is for sale if Spurs get a bid in the £50 million range – perhaps an unlikely prospect.

Wanyama remains defiant amid the speculation, posting a not so cryptic Instagram message over the weekend.

His message wrote: “In life many things don’t go according to plan. if you fall, Get back up.If you stumble regain your balance.Never give up.”

Wanyama’s message could be applied to either his own situation individually or Tottenham’s season.

Spurs as a team are looking to bounce back from their FA Cup semi-final defeat last weekend when they face Watford at Wembley tonight.

Wanyama started the defeat to United on the bench and he will be determined to make an impression if given the nod tonight.
