Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly listen to offers for midfielder Victor Wanyama.
Victor Wanyama may have been a key player for Tottenham Hotspur following his 2016 move from Southampton, but he may just be left behind in North London.
The Kenyan midfielder followed former Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino to Tottenham in 2016, and immediately starred for Spurs, becoming a key part of the midfield under the Argentinian.
However, last season was a struggle for Wanyama with form and injuries, and The Sun now report that Tottenham are ready to cash in, with Pochettino understood to be willing to listen to offers in 2019.
There was a time earlier this year when the Daily Mail claimed that Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United wanted to land Wanyama, but that seems like a distant memory right now.
If any club would be willing to rekindle their interest in Wanyama, it may just be Wolverhampton Wanderers, with Tim Nash of The Express and Star reporting that Wolves wanted Wanyama before deciding on a cheaper move for Joao Moutinho instead.
Moutino and Ruben Neves have formed a superb midfield partnership, possessing outstanding quality on the ball, but some do feel that a powerful anchor man may also be needed, especially with Leander Dendoncker yet to really feature and potentially viewed as a centre back.
Wanyama would therefore make sense for Wolves, and would even give manager Nuno the option to switch to a 4-3-3 when needed, with Wanyama providing a strong base behind creative forces Neves and Moutinho.
Wanyama’s stock has fallen over the last year, but with Wolves interested in the summer and no major worries about overspending and being relegated, Nuno’s men may be wise to explore a deal again and see if they can strike a deal in 2019.
