Leeds United are reportedly chasing Wolves’ Helder Costa.
Helder Costa is being lined up by Leeds United for a summer move, the Yorkshire Evening Post report.
Costa was a regular in the Wolves side which won promotion, but last season it began to unravel for him in the Premier League.
The Mirror reported earlier this transfer window that Wolves are keen to offload Costa.
So how did it get to this point for the player the club spent a club record £13 million to sign permanently in 2017?
The principle reason appears to be his lack of goals and ability to change games in the Premier League.
Costa took until December 29 to score his first goal last season for Wolves.
He was called out by manager Nuno Santo who demanded more from him.
Santo told The Mail: “I’m pleased but he has to do more
“This is the first one and we are 20 games in. He has to do more.”
It was clearly a moment which would be pivotal for Costa. Had he been able to kick on, his slow start would have been forgiven.
Unfortunately for Costa, the goal was his one and only of the season, failing to net in 2019.
This appears to have sealed his fate, as he has seemingly lost the faith of Santo, with his playing time decreasing as the campaign went on.
A move to Leeds would be a fresh start, and could be exactly what he needs.
