England soccer fans travelled to Mexico in their numbers recently to watch the Three Lions in World Cup Round of 16 action.
Despite going down to 10 men early in the second half and Mexico having an amazing record at the Azteca, Thomas Tuchel’s side eventually came away with a 3-2 win.
Following the game, several English fans heaped praise on one of the World Cup hosts, with one even claiming that the final should be held at the Azteca instead of in the USA.

England fans praise Mexican people after World Cup win
The 2026 World Cup final will take place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium (renamed the New York New Jersey Stadium for the duration of the tournament).
But when being interviewed by victorymedia.oficial after their win over Mexico, one fan said: “America hosting the final is a joke. That ground [the Azteca] deserves to host the final.”
A few more England fans also spoke to the outlet in the aftermath of their win, and were quick to praise Mexico and its people.
A second stated: “The best ground in the world”, before he later added: “Beautiful people, beautiful country, wow.”
Another said: “The people are so nice. The people, the food. Very good.”
While a fourth added: “Amazing, best stadium ever, and the people, best people.”
However, following their defeat to England, there will be no more World Cup games hosted in Mexico City this summer.
Instead, all of the matches left to play at the tournament, barring one clash in Canada between Switzerland and Colombia, will take place in the USA.
