Tottenham defender Ben Davies has stated on his Instagram story that Gareth Bale’s 100 appearances for Wales is an ‘amazing achievement’.

Over the weekend, Bale marked his 100th appearance for his country by helping them beat Belarus 5-1 in their World Cup qualifier.

It was such a special night that Davies even managed to get on the scoresheet – Bale only lasted 45 minutes in what was a pre-planned move by both the player and coach Rob Page.

Nonetheless, this is the message Davies sent to Bale regarding the news about his 100th cap.

“Amazing achievement,” said Davies. “For an amazing player.”

Bale may no longer have that acceleration or hard-hitting power in his legs, but one thing that hasn’t left him is his footballing intelligence.

Even though he played in a sporadic fashion for Spurs last season, he still managed to score 11 Premier League goals from his 20 matches.

It’s quite remarkable for a player that was half-cooked and playing for a team that was half-asleep.

Not many would have expected it, but the Welsh wizard is back in Real Madrid colours and trying to pick up the pieces to his fractured relationship with the supporters.

More than likely, he will probably head for the Madrid exit door when his contract expires next summer, but what will he do next?

If Wales book their place for the 2022 Qatar World Cup in November, then Bale will need the minutes under his belt for that tournament.

Perhaps, just perhaps a return to Spurs could be on the cards because it doesn’t seem like he will extend his stay in Spain.
