Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has been seriously impressed with Dominik Szoboszlai.

Liverpool had to revamp their midfield over the summer and did so with four new signings arriving.

Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch all arrived as Liverpool splashed the cash on new recruits.

All four have shown promising signs this season and should be vital for Liverpool long after Jurgen Klopp has departed.

Liverpool are now focusing on Europa League action against Sparta Prague, with Szoboszlai potentially in line for a return to the starting XI…

Szoboszlai has struggled with injury problems of late and only played for Liverpool once since the end of January.

That was a 14-minute cameo against Nottingham Forest last weekend with Szoboszlai coming off the bench to help Liverpool secure a 1-0 win.

Szoboszlai may now be in contention for a staring role against Sparta, potentially joining Mac Allister in the engine room.

Mac Allister has now spoken bout Szoboszlai whilst talking to the Liverpool Echo ahead of Thursday’s clash in the Czech capital.

Mac Allister branded Szoboszlai an ‘amazing player’, believing that he is ‘doing very well’ in his first Premier League campaign.

The Argentinian urged people not to forget what Szoboszlai can bring to the Liverpool side having been out of late, adding that he is a ‘special guy’.

“He is an amazing player, a nice lad as well,” said Mac Allister. “He is doing very well. He had an injury but we cannot forget what he brings to the team. He is definitely as important as every player in this team and a special guy,” he added.

Liverpool will want to manage Szoboszlai carefully, especially with Sunday’s game against Manchester City looming large.

A start on Thursday evening may just prepare Szoboszlai to start against City too, with fans no doubt excited to see the Hungarian back in action alongside Mac Allister.

The Liverpool medical team will have the final say though, with the Reds certainly hoping to avoid another injury lay-off for the former RB Leipzig star.
