According to Alan Nixon, via Patreon, Leeds United are interested in bringing Charlie Taylor back to Elland Road.
Taylor, of course, played for Leeds prior to his move to Burnley in 2017, and it’s fair to say that he’d be returning to a rather different club if he came back to west Yorkshire.
Indeed, plenty has changed since Taylor left the Whites. Leeds are now in the Premier League, they’ve spent over £200m on new players over the past three years and they have a bright new manager at the helm.
However, one thing that hasn’t changed is that Liam Cooper is still the club captain, and we’re sure that the Scottish international would be very keen to see Taylor return to the club. After all, he has showered him in praise in the past.
What’s been said?
Speaking to the BBC all the way back in 2015, Cooper had nothing but good things to say about Taylor after his return from injury.
“Charlie’s performances at the start of the season were brilliant,” Cooper said.
“He’s come in today and he hasn’t even looked like he’s been out for that long. It’s amazing, he’s not even had any football. I’m delighted for Charlie, I wish we could have got a result for him today.”
Makes so much sense
Taylor returning to Leeds makes a lot of sense at this point in time.
The Whites are desperate for a new left-back as Junior Firpo struggles for fitness and form, while Taylor is more than worthy of an instant return to the Premier League with Burnley.
The full-back, of course, will be able to settle in at Leeds with relative ease given the time he spent at Elland Road earlier in his career, and the fact that Cooper is still the Leeds captain will also be a help for the Englishman if this deal goes through.
This is a transfer that would make the world of sense.
