Gary Neville has told Stadium Astro that seeing how Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United side cope in the Premier League is the ‘most intriguing’ story heading into the new campaign.

Leeds were the standout team in the Championship last season, with their attacking and stylish brand of football earning many admirers.

Leeds pressed teams very highly and were not afraid to leave gaps at the back, as they went in search of goals.

That strategy is obviously set to be riskier in the Premier League, when the quality of Leeds’ opponents will surely be higher.

But Neville cannot wait to see Leeds in action, with the Whites’ first game coming against Liverpool on September 12th.

“I think it’s the most intriguing story in the Premier League, how Bielsa will do,” Neville said.

“The first game, Liverpool v Leeds, is amazing – it will be watched all around the world.

“While Manchester United won’t want Leeds to be successful they do want them in the Premier League.”

Leeds have already outlined their ambitions for the new campaign, as their transfer plans have been hugely impressive.

Leeds have already brought in Rodrigo, and seem to have some more high profile targets on their radar.

It has been 16 years since Leeds last played Premier League football, but it seems that Bielsa’s side are determined to do everything in their power to ensure that they stay in the top flight now.

And there is cautious optimism growing at Elland Road that Leeds could cause a few surprises over the upcoming campaign.
