Speaking on the This Is Anfield YouTube channel, Dirk Kuyt has been full of praise for Sadio Mane and his transformation into a centre-forward.
The Senegal international made his name as a winger, but with Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz now occupying the wide roles at Anfield, he’s had to adapt his game slightly.
Fortunately, Mane is talented enough to flourish in any attacking role, and while he’s not a natural number nine, he’s taken to playing as a centre-forward like a duck to water.
Kuyt is certainly a player who knows a thing or two about versatility, and he says it’s pretty amazing how Mane has managed to once again reinvent himself.
What’s been said?
Kuyt praised Mane.
“It’s pretty amazing how Mane is managing these changes in the team. He started on the right when he came in, then he went to the left, and now Diaz is playing on the left so he’s playing centrally and he’s doing a great job,” Kuyt said.

Perfect timing
Mane playing a more central role has sparked a new life into him, but the timing of this switch couldn’t have been any better either.
Mane has always been the man for the big occasion – no player has scored more Champions League knockout goals in the past five years, and with Liverpool chasing a quadruple, he was always going to come alive at the business end of the season.
Whether he’s on the wing or up front, Mane thrives when it truly matters, and at this point of the season, he simply has to be on the pitch no matter which position he’s playing.
