David Beckham has praised the ‘amazing achievement’ of Steve Bruce on his Instagram story, after he took charge of his 1000th game in management during Newcastle’s 3-2 defeat to Tottenham.
There was a lot of drama and talking points heading into Sunday’s game, with the new ownership of Newcastle hitting the headlines during these past ten days.
There were suggestions that Bruce may not be able to take to the touchline for his 1000th because the club’s new Saudi-led owners were going to sack him.
But he was in the dugout for today’s game, and in truth, it was party spoiled by Harry Kane and co.
What will be even more worrying for the Magpies, at the moment, is the fact that they have zero wins from their opening eight matches.
They need to pick themselves up and get out of the relegation zone because they don’t want to be the richest club in the Championship.
It may have been Bruce’s 1000th game in charge, but it’s probably his last one in charge of Newcastle.
If he survives during these past few weeks then it would be a huge surprise because the writing is on the wall.
And given that there were chants of ‘Bruce out’ by the home fans in the second half, then that really says it all in regards to what the fans are feeling.
Nonetheless, this is what Beckham posted on Instagram story during Newcastle’s defeat to Spurs
“Love you Brucey,” Beckham posted on his IG. “Amazing achievement.”
