Arsenal ace Pablo Mari to arrive in Italy this Wednesday to sign for Monza
Pablo Mari is now set to fly over to Italy this Wednesday to sign for Monza in a season-long loan transfer from Arsenal. That’s according to Gianluca Di Marzio, who reports the centre-half will take a private jet over to Lombardy to undergo his medical later on this afternoon.

Monza struck a total agreement with the Gunners over his temporary transfer on Tuesday night. Mari will spend the 2022/23 campaign at the Stadio Brianteo, while the club owned by Silvio Berlusconi will carry an obligation to buy the 28-year-old if they avoid relegation.

The Biancorossi are set to contest their first Italian top-flight campaign in the club’s history this season. Monza won promotion via the Serie B play-offs last season with a 6-4 win over Pisa. They won the first-leg 2-1, before needing extra-time to triumph in the reverse game.
Monza will start the Serie A season at home to Torino on Saturday, August 13, and hope to have Mari signed on loan from Arsenal in time to possibly feature. He spent the latter half of last season in Italy, having left the Emirates Stadium to join Udinese in the winter sales.
Mari amassed 15 appearances at the Dacia Arena and helped to take a 1-1 draw at the San Siro against Scudetto winners AC Milan. Udinese also drew 1-1 with Jose Mourinho’s Roma with the Spaniard featuring. But his efforts were not enough to merit a recall with Arsenal.

Pablo Mari on verge of potential final Emirates Stadium farewell
Mari’s move to Monza may mark the final farewell of his Emirates Stadium career after 22 appearances for Arsenal. He seldom played in north London after arriving as Mikel Arteta’s first signing in charge of the Gunners in January 2020 in an initial loan deal from Flamengo.
Arsenal paid a £4m loan fee, before handing over an additional £8m to make the switch a permanent arrangement. Former Gunners defender David Luiz also hailed Mari at the time of his arrival as an ‘amazing’ defender, via Goal, but he may not see out his four-year deal.
