Everton defensive midfielder Amadou Onana has expressed his surprise on Instagram that Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon is wearing the number 8 shirt now.
Onana shared his surprise while responding to Gordon’s post on Instagram after making his debut for Newcastle United against West Ham United following his move from Everton in the January transfer window.
Newcastle played out a 1-1 draw with West Ham United at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
Gordon came on as a substitute for Allan Saint-Maximin in the 69th minute.
The English winger was wearing the number 8 shirt.
And that has left Onana surprised, as you can see below.
Gordon was wearing number 10 at Everton this season, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
Last season, the winger had number 24 at the Merseyside club, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
As reported by Sky Sports, Newcastle have paid Premier League rivals Everton an initial transfer fee of £40 million to bring the English winger to St. James’ Park.
While Newcastle are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season, Everton are looking to avoid the dreaded drop to the Championship at the end of the campaign.
