Amadou Onana has revealed that the Frank Lampard factor convinced him to join Everton in the summer.
In the summer, the Evening Standard had reported that while the Belgian international was closing in on a move to WestHam, the club decided not to bow down to his £100k-a-week wage demands.
While it seems the Merseyside-based side did pay the big bucks, it’s safe to say that their investment has been a masterstroke so far.

The former Anderlecht starlet has been a revelation since his arrival, forming an excellent partnership with Alex Iwobi and Idrissa Gana Gueye in midfield.
The £33 million (BBC Sport) midfielder’s displays have impressed to the extent that ex-Toffees boss Roberto Martinez decided to call up him for Belgium’s World Cup squad.
Onana on how Lampard convinced him to sign for Everton
In an interview with Sport Magazine, Amadou Onana said, “Honestly, I love the coach (Frank Lampard) and I could tell you a lot about him but he’s the man who convinced me to continue my adventure here [Everton].”
“I would have never come to Everton because the former star, Frank Lampard was coaching there. He was an exceptional player, but I don’t sign for a club because of the name of its coach.”
“[I joined] For his good ideas, though. That’s where he seduced me. When I spoke to him, I realised he was a fascinating man.”
“I liked the feeling we had. I like the way he talked to me, the way he talked about football.”
The fact that one of Everton’s best performers is such a huge advocate of the exit-linked Frank Lampard may be a sign that the club could hand him some more time at the helm.
