Tottenham Hotspur are said to be interested in signing Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Amadou Haidara.

Salzburg's Amadou Haidara controls the ball during the Europa League Round of 16 first leg football match between Borussia Dortmund and FC Salzburg on March 8, 2018 in Dortmund.

According to a report in the Sun, Tottenham Hotspur will make a summer move for Amadou Haidara of Red Bull Salzburg.

Spurs have been impressed by Haidara’s performances this season, and regard him as a youngster who could improve their side significantly.

The 20-year-old has stood out in the Austria this term, and looks to be a top talent.

But if Haidara was to arrive, it would surely be bad news for Josh Onomah, whose career has faltered in recent times.

Onomah was once tipped to be one of Spurs’ brightest up and coming prospects, but there are now serious doubts over whether he will ever make the grade.

Onomah was sent out on loan to Aston Villa this season, but he has not made a particularly positive impression.

The central midfielder has failed to hold down a place in Villa’s starting line-up and has barely featured of late.

And if Haidara was brought to Spurs, then his chances of breaking into Mauricio Pochettino’s team would become even more slim.

Haidara would naturally be compared to Onomah, given their relatively similar ages and play-styles.

And if Haidara was to join, it may suggest that Onomah would be best off moving away from Tottenham to fulfil his potential.
