So, what has Amad Diallo said about his Manchester United teammate Lisandro Martinez? Let’s take a look.

Amad Diallo praises Manchester United teammate Lisandro Martinez

Well, Amad Diallo has been reflecting on his time at Manchester United so far and one of the players who has impressed him is Lisandro Martinez.

Diallo has just returned to action for United after a spell on the sidelines. Martines is injured at the moment.

Diallo told United’s official website about Martinez: “Lisandro is a fantastic person. He’s more than a player to me. He’s a leader. When I got injured, he was injured too, so he really helped me.

“He spoke to me a lot and told me not to worry about the injury, and the main thing was to stay positive and work hard to get back into the team, so I did what he and everyone else said. I’m so pleased to be back.”

My View: Lisandro Martinez a Manchester United success story

Not many players signed under the management of Erik ten Hag have been successful, but Lisandro Martinez is a rare story of a player coming in at Manchester United and making an immediate impact.

Martinez is one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League when he is fit and available. One Sky Sports pundit has described him as a “born fighter”.

The 26-year-old cost United £48.3 million (Sky Sports) when they signed him from Ajax in the summer of 2022, and I think that he has been worth the transfer fee.

Martinez is very combative at the back, times his tackles and challenges perfectly and is a leader. He has made 35 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. The defender has scored one goal, given one assist and kept eight clean sheets in those games.

There have been injury issues with the Argentina international defender, and United miss him when the 2022 Qatar World Cup winner is not in the team.

Martinez is on the sidelines at the moment. The defender sustained an injury to the medial collateral ligament in his knee against West Ham United and may not play again this season.
