Sunderland transfer round-up.
New Sunderland manager David Moyes
According to the Sunderland Echo, new Black Cats boss David Moyes is looking to strengthen his side in three key positions – right-back, centre-back and striker.
The Daily Star understands that one of those potential signings could be Aston Villa’s Micah Richards.
Adnan Januzaj is a reported target for David Moyes
In other transfer news, the Daily Mail claim that Moyes wants to bring his former player Adnan Januzaj to the Stadium of Light in a potential loan move. The Belgian scored his first Manchester United goal under Moyes away at Sunderland of all places.
Sunderland’s Lamine Kone
Last season’s standout defender Lamine Kone could be on his way out of the club with The Chronicle reporting that Leicester City and West Brom are interested in signing the Ivory Coast international centre-back.
Sunderland’s new Chief Executive Martin Bains gave his first interview since arriving at the club earlier this month and offered his opinion on the appointment of David Moyes, as reported by The Chronicle:
“He has tremendous experience and obviously his experience speaks for itself. I think fundamentally for me David is an assertive character but he has a nice delivery and a nice way with people.”
He then went on to discuss the Black Cats’ transfer business:
“My priorities have to be very much supporting David and the football side of the business. We have a number of things to do and we have been, as I’ve said quite vocally, paralysing the transfer market so now we have to really move forward on that front. I think there will be plenty that David will want to do, and I will assist him as best I can in trying to make certain things happen.”
And finally, The Daily Star are reporting that Charles N’Zogbia is hoping to be offered a permanent deal by Sunderland after this trial with the club was extended.
