Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Dale Stephens has taken to Twitter in a message to Seagulls fans regarding his future, and criticised the club for not allowing him to leave during the transfer window.
Stephens was explicit in stating that his message was by no means an apology, but more so an explanation to the fans as to the truth behind his desire to leave the club.

The 27-year-old handed in a transfer request at the American Express Community Stadium, and was linked with a move to numerous Premier League clubs, including Hull City and Burnley (Sky Sports), throughout the course of the summer.
Stephens uploaded the below tweet to his official Twitter account, outlining his disappointment at not being allowed to leave:
With just 10-months remaining on the former Charlton Athletic player’s contract, it does seem a strange decision by Brighton to not sanction his sale, and they will now face losing him for nothing next summer.
