Caner Erkin in action for Turkey
Reports emanating from Italy suggest that Southampton are the latest club to show interest in Inter Milan left-back Caner Erkin, according to TuttoMercatoWeb via Sky Italia.
The 27-year-old Turkey international only moved to the San Siro on July 1st of this year, signing for the Nerazzurri as a free agent, but rumours have surfaced regarding his future at the club claiming that Inter are ready to shift him on for a tidy profit (TuttoMercatoWeb).

The report also claims that the Saints will face competition from La Liga side Real Betis in the race for the Turk’s signature, and that the next few hours will be decisive in the players future.
If Southampton managed to sign Erkin, he would provide top level competition for Ryan Bertrand in the left-back role, and his presence would surely help improve the 27-year-old England international’s performances.

Erkin is a highly experienced defender who made 157 league appearances for Fenerbahce before his move to the Italian giants, and would be a useful addition to any of the clubs who are reportedly interested in signing him.
Liverpool and Stoke City have also been linked, and the former’s left-back problems arguably make their need more urgent than the other clubs mentioned.
With less than a week remaining until the transfer window closes, a move will have to be made sooner rather than later for the Turkish international.
