West Bromwich Albion will have to switch targets after failing in their attempts to sign Jeffrey Schlupp, and should consider Everton winger Aiden McGeady.
Tony Pulis appears to have conceded defeat in his pursuit of Leicester City’s Jeffrey Schlupp
West Brom’s long-term pursuit of Leicester City’s versatile wide-man Jeffrey Schlupp appears to have ended in disappointment, with Baggies boss Tony Pulis being quoted by the Daily Mail as saying that the Foxes have made it clear that they have no desire to sell the Ghanaian.
Pulis has only managed to bring in one player this summer, in what has proved to be a difficult transfer window for the Baggies.
In the wake of their failed pursuit of Schlupp, West Brom should consider a move for Everton’s Aiden McGeady.
Everton and Ireland winger Aiden McGeady
The Republic of Ireland international has struggled to impress since his move to Goodison Park in January 2014, and spent the second half of last season on loan at Championship side Sheffield Wednesday, where he was equally as disappointing.
The 30-year-old former Celtic winger is still incredibly talented, and Pulis could be the man to get the best out of the Irishman.
In his prime, McGeady was a joy to watch, with his ability to run at pace with the ball seemingly stuck to his feet.
His two-footed nature made him a nightmare to defend against, with defenders unsure whether he would cut inside or take them on down the outside.
The Hawthorns could be the ideal place for McGeady to rediscover his exciting ability, and Pulis could be just the man to extradite the best from the Everton winger.

The Baggies boss is renowned for resurrecting player’s flagging careers including the likes of Peter Crouch, Jonathan Walters and Rory Delap during his spell as Stoke City boss.
McGeady’s contract still has two-years left to run at Everton, but if West Brom were to make a bid, it is unlikely they would meet any resistance from the Toffees.
Should a move come to fruition, the 85-capped Republic of Ireland international would have the opportunity to re-establish himself as a top-class Premier League performer, and given the chance of regular first-team football under the guidance of Tony Pulis, McGeady could very well flourish at the Hawthorns.
