Andre Gray scored 23 goals in 41 Championship appearances for Burnley last term.
Southampton manager Claude Puel
Southampton finished sixth in the Premier League last term and managed to once again defy the odds after losing some of their best players before they got their campaign under way.
This season is likely to be even tougher after they lost their manager Ronald Koeman to Everton. In order to once again compete for the European places, new boss Claude Puel must ensure that he strengthens his side accordingly.
The Saints have made an impressive start to their recruitment drive by bringing in four players, including Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Bayern Munich and Nathan Redmond from Norwich City.
One area that arguably still needs strengthening is the forward department, with only Charlie Austin, Shane Long and Jay Rodriguez, who is on the way back from a long-term injury, to call upon.

A good option for the South Coast club would be Burnley striker Andre Gray.
The 25-year old has scored 93 goals in 189 league games and his pacey, direct style would offer the Saints something different to what they already have.
He could be used in rotation with Long in a 4-4-2, alongside Austin or Rodriguez.

With such a challenging and physically punishing Premier League campaign ahead of them, it would be a wise move from Southampton to equip their squad with four top-class strikers.
They will then be able to rotate their forward line and keep everyone fresh for the last few months of the season.
Whether the Clarets would consider selling one of their best players to a division rival is debatable, but as is often the case, every player has their price.
