Everton should consider a move for Sevilla’s Steven N’Zonzi with James McCarthy heavily linked with an exit from the club.

Sevilla midfielder Steven N’Zonzi has been linked with an exit from the La Liga side this summer, with Juventus the latest club to reportedly develop an interest in the former Stoke City enforcer (Daily Mail).
The 27-year-old former France under-21 international would be an ideal signing for Everton, especially with the future of James McCarthy growing increasingly uncertain by the day.
If McCarthy does eventually move from Goodison Park, the Toffees would be left with Gareth Barry as the only accomplished ball-winning midfielder in their side.

Ronald Koeman should consider a move for N’Zonzi to add steel to his midfield, and with Everton being the 13th smallest side in the Premier League (talkSPORT), the 6 ft 3 in Sevilla man’s imposing physical nature would help turn the Merseyside outfit into an entirely different proposition.
The Blues have began their 2016/17 campaign in impressive fashion and have taken seven points from their opening three games, but there are still certain areas where they undoubtedly need to strengthen.
While Gareth Barry has been excellent for Everton over the past couple of years, he will be 36 in February, and although his performances continue to defy his age, there will come a time in the near future where he will not be able to get around the pitch as he does now.

Whether McCarthy stays or leaves, the signing of N’Zonzi would be a key acquisition for Everton, and would provide fantastic competition for the current crop of midfielders.
The Daily Mail report that the 27-year-old has a £25 million buy-out clause, which would not be a problem for Everton considering the £49 million that they recently pocketed after the sale of John Stones.
Any potential move for N’Zonzi will have to happen sooner rather than later with just three days remaining before the transfer window closes, and if it came to fruition, it would be one that would strengthen the Everton side considerably.
