West Ham United’s Diafra Sakho is available and would be an ideal signing for Everton while the future of Romelu Lukaku remains unclear.
It is unclear whether Romelu Lukaku will remain at Everton
The future of Everton forward Romelu Lukaku remains uncertain with Chelsea’s interest in the Belgian international well documented.
The Evening Standard reported earlier this week that Lukaku has his heart set on a move back to the Blues, despite the offer of a new £135,000 per week contract to stay at Goodison Park.
Even if the powerful 23-year-old remained at Everton, there is a case to be made for Ronald Koeman to sign another striker in order bolster his forward line even further.
A smart addition for the Merseyside outfit would be West Ham’s seemingly unwanted Diafra Sakho.
Diafra Sakho celebrates after scoring for West Ham
The Senegal international was on the cusp of a move to West Bromwich Albion before he failed a medical due to a back injury that would have prevented him from being able start at the beginning of the season (The Telegraph).
The injury is short-term in nature, however, and Everton should take advantage of Sakho’s availability by making a move for the 26-year-old.
His pace and selfless running into the channels would bring something to Koeman’s side that they do not currently possess, and he would be well capable of playing as part of a two up front or in a wider area supporting the lone striker.
Should Ronald Foeman consider a move for Sakho?
The Hammers have made moves to strengthen their forward line with the signings of Andre Ayew and Jonathan Calleri, so should a respectable offer come in for Sakho, there is little doubt that he would be allowed to leave.
When Sakho was presented with the opportunity of regular first-team football two season ago, he proved what he is capable of, and if he could replicate that kind of form, he would be a fantastic acquisition for Everton.
