Newcastle will have to invest wisely to ensure an instant return to the Premier League, and Rob Lee hopes one of those acquisitions will be his son, Elliot.

Former Newcastle United star Rob Lee explained how his son Elliot would be a good signing for the Magpies, when writing his column for The Chronicle, and how if they came in for him he would advise his son to make the move.
Lee, 21, was released by the Hammers this summer, and his father described to The Chronicle how he believes the Londoners did not give his son the chance he deserved.
Lee’s father Rob claims his son didn’t get the chance he deserved at West Ham
“At West Ham, I thought he deserved a chance over the likes of Emmanuel Emenike and Nikica Jelavic, both of whom just sat on the bench,” he said. “Elliot was never really given a chance even though he scored in the Europa League. You never know how good someone is going to be until you give them a Premier League chance; just look at Harry Kane.”
The former St James’ Park hero made 382 appearances for Newcastle during a career that spanned 10 years. He described what a great club it still is, and how he would not hesitate to advise his son to make the move to Tyneside, should he be given the opportunity.

Elliot Lee had a loan spell at Wycombe as he struggled to find regular football at West Ham
“There’s so many rumours of clubs out there, but if Newcastle did come in for him then I would certainly recommend to him that he goes there,” Lee added. “With Rafa Benitez, they have a great manager again and the club will hopefully get back to what it was before.”
With Benitez at the helm there seems to be a good buzz around the club as they head into the new season, and with his CV he should be able to attract a standard of player that previously would have been deemed too good for the Championship.
