Various news reports have emanated today claiming that Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner is set to join Nottingham Forest within the next 24 hours, with BBC Nottingham tweeting that a deal could be imminent.
The former Arsenal man has developed somewhat of a cult status within the game following a series of comments regarding his highly inflated opinion of his own abilities.

Forest’s reported interest in Bendtner does seem to make sense, however, after they allowed numerous forwards and attack-minded players to leave over the summer.
BBC Nottingham posted the following tweet to their official Twitter page regarding Forest’s supposed interest in Bendtner:
While the 28-year-old Dane has been mocked in the past for his performances, he still possesses undoubted quality, and maybe a club like Forest could provide him with a platform to showcase his true abilities to the English public and media.

Forest have began their Championship campaign with a mixed bag of results, and currently sit seventh in the table. To have a chance of competing for the promotion and play-off places, Philippe Montanier must ensure that he strengthens his side further, and the free signing of Nicklas Bendtner could be the ideal place to start.
