Reports emanating from Ghana today suggest that Swansea City have entered the race to sign Aston Villa forward Jordan Ayew, according to GhanaSoccerNet.
The 24-year-old’s future at Villa Park is far from certain, with speculation regarding a move away from the Midlands club intensifying by the day.
GhanaSoccerNet report that the Swans have made an enquiry to ascertain whether or not the Ghanaian international is available.
The media outlet goes on to suggest that Hamburg and Sunderland are also interested in signing the Villa man, and a fee of around £12 million would be required to prise him away from Villa Park.
Ayew’s brother, Andre, has just left the Welsh club in a £20.5 million move to West Ham United, so he could potentially be a like-for-like replacement for his sibling.
The former Lorient and Marseille man moved to Villa last summer for a fee believed to be in the region of £8.4 million, but failed to help his side avoid relegation to the Championship.
Ayew managed to score seven goals in 31 league outings, and while he struggled for consistency, he showed glimpses of his undoubted talent.
