William Carvalho is reportedly wanted by three Premier League clubs including Southampton and Everton.
William Carvalho starred in Portugal’s run to Euro 2016 glory
Southampton have joined Everton in the race to sign Sporting Lisbon and Portugal international William Carvalho, as reported by The Sun.
Carvalho was part of the Portuguese team who were victorious at Euro 2016 after beating France in the final last night and the newspaper claims that he will be available for around £20 million.
Carvalho would be a fantastic addition for all three clubs linked with his signature
The Sun go on to suggest that Leicester City still remain keen on signing the midfield dynamo, and continue to track developments in the event that N’Golo Kante eventually leaves the King Power Stadium.
The report also claims that Everton manager Ronald Koeman is seriously considering a move for the 24-year-old Portuguese star, with the club’s bid to sign Alex Witsel becoming increasingly complicated.
Carvalho is powerful box-to-box midfielder whose style of play would suit English football perfectly
Carvalho is a powerful box-to-box type player who can also play a more disciplined role in front of the back four. He would be a fantastic signing for most Premier League teams, but Southampton could be the club where he would flourish the most.
They are reportedly close to completing a deal for Bayern Munich’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Sky Sports), and having both the Dane and Carvalho pinning the base of the Saints’ midfield would be a very solid foundation for new manager Claude Puel to build from in the upcoming season.
Whoever ends up winning the race for the Sporting star’s signature will be a far stronger club with him in the side.
