According to the Chronicle, Newcastle left-back Kevin Mbabu has emerged as a loan target for Preston North End and Birmingham City.
Both sides have reportedly made contact with the Magpies regarding the possibility of a temporary deal for the Swiss youngster, as they look to strengthen their squads for the physically demanding Championship campaign ahead of them.
The Chronicle go on to report that Newcastle are keen for Mbabu to move on loan this season, with their pursuit of Everton left-back Brendan Galloway gaining momentum.
Everton’s Brendan Galloway is a target for Newcastle
The 21-year-old full-back moved to the North East outfit in January 2013 from Swiss second-tier side Servette, but has gone on to make only five senior appearances for the club.
He is still highly rated on Tyneside, however, and the ideal solution would be to send him out on loan where he can gain experience from regular first-team football.

Mbabu impressed on his full senior debit against Chelsea in the early stages of last season, displaying impressive technique and pace.
With such a severe lack of match practice at the top level, however, it will be vital for him to gain first-team exposure on a regular basis, and he would certainly have more chance of getting that at either Deepdale or St Andrews.
With only 19 days left until the transfer window closes, both Birmingham and Preston will want to get any kind of deal done as soon as possible.
