Aston Villa had a deadline day £1 million loan bid for Jordan Rhodes rejected by Middlesbrough, according to the Sunday People, and reported via the Daily Star.
Villa had already paid out over £20 million on Ross McCormack and Jonathan Kodjia, but according to he report from the People, Roberto Di Matteo was looking to strengthen his forward options even further.

Rhodes, 26, only moved to the Riverside in February of this year, for a fee believed to be in the region of £9 million, but has made only 13 league starts for the Teesside outfit.
Boro do have plenty of options in the forward department, with the likes of Alvaro Negredo, Christian Stuani and Viktor Fischer amongst their ranks, but Rhodes must be part of Aitor Karanka’s plans for the season for him to reject Villa’s reported loan move.

The two sides have experienced contrasting fortunes at the start of their respective campaigns, with Boro making an impressive start that sees them comfortably sitting in sixth position in the Premier League.
Villa, on the other hand, have struggled to adapt to life in the Championship, and after a run of just one win from five outings, they find themselves languishing in 16th position in the table.
How much first-team football Rhodes is offered up until January will likely have a huge bearing on his future at the Riverside, and should he become available, there would be a whole list of clubs ready and willing to take the Scotland international.
