Report suggests Leicester have bid accepted for Slimani

According to reports in Portugal, Leicester City have had a bid accepted for Islam Slimani.

Reports emanating from Portugal suggest that Leicester have agreed a fee with Sporting CP for Algerian striker Islam Sliming, believed to be in the region of €29 million (£24.7 million), according to Correio de Manha.

It was reported earlier in the week that West Bromwich Albion were in pole position for the player’s signature (DN Sport), but the Foxes now appear to have stolen a march on their rivals.

The report from Correio de Manha states that Leicester’s offer is actually €1 million below Slimani’s release clause, but the Portuguese outfit have decided to do business nevertheless.

Claudio Ranieri has already made moves to considerably strengthen his side this summer, and despite the sale of N’Golo Kante, it could be argued that the Foxes are actually a stronger outfit this term.

Slimani, 28, has been tracked throughout the summer by numerous clubs from various different leagues, and boasts an impressive goalscoring record.

Since his move to the Portuguese capital in 2013, he has scored 47 league goals in 81 outings (60 starts), and he would strengthen the Leicester side considerably, should a move come to fruition.
