Alejandro Faurlin has announced his departure from Queens Park Rangers via Instagram.
Queens Park Rangers midfielder Alejandro Faurlin has taken to social media outlet Instagram to confirm he is leaving the West London side after a seven-year spell at Loftus Road in a heart-felt message to fans and staff at the club.
The 29-year-old Argentine’s contract was set to expire this summer, but the popular playmaker was expected to sign an extension. By his own admission, however, he said he would have to prove himself to be worthy of a new deal, speaking to getwestlondon.co.uk in February.
“I need to get a certain amount of games and the club have the option to extend,” he said. “The club has been great with me and I haven’t played really, so I want to prove that I can repay some of that confidence. The rest will take care of itself.”
The QPR hierarchy have obviously decided against the option of extending Faurlin’s contract however, as he took to Instagram to break the news regarding his future:
Faurlin’s career at Loftus Road has seen him make 163 appearances for the Hoops, and he will now be looking to begin a new chapter in his footballing life.
Rangers will have to move to replace the Argentine, whose passing ability was vital in the middle of the park for his side.
A disappointing campaign saw QPR finish 12th in the Championship table, and their fans will be expecting vast improvements next season.
