Popular bookmakers BETVICTOR have made Newcastle United new 5/2 favourites in the race to sign West Bromwich Albion winger Callum McManaman.

The 25-year-old moved to the Hawthorns from Wigan Athletic in January 2015 but has since gone on to make only seven Premier League starts for the Baggies.

Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez outlined his desire to bring in one more signing before the transfer window closes, highlighting his side’s need for a pacey winger (the Chronicle) and McManaman would appear to fit that particular bill.

BETVICTOR list Derby County as second favourites at 4/1, with former club Wigan and Sheffield Wednesday tied third favourites at 6/1.

McManaman is an accomplished dribbler and can play anywhere along the front-line.

His versatility would being provide Benitez with a further option to introduce variety into his tactical play.

The Magpies have recovered well from a disappointing start to life in the Championship and have reeled off three consecutive league wins.

Another addition to the squad would boost the St James’ Park outfit further still, however, and if the club do manage to sign McManaman, they would be in an incredibly strong position to secure promotion back to the Premier League.
