Alexandre Lacazette’s future at Lyon remains uncertain amid interest from Arsenal.
Alexandre Lacazette
Sky Sports football reporter Kaveh Solhekol has taken to Twitter to relay quotes form Lyon manager Bruno Genesio that could be construed as a hint regarding the future of Alexandre Lacazette, as the transfer saga surrounding him rumbles on.
Sky Sports reported today that Arsenal are preparing an increased offer for the 25-year-old Frenchman, after having a £29.3 million offer rebuffed last week.
Solhekol took to Twitter, and relayed a quote from the Lyon boss in reference to Lacazette:
Football is a funny old game, so quotes can never be taken at face value, but this is certainly the first time that a senior figure from Lyon with any kind of authority has said anything other than that the player will not be sold.
Lacazette is a target for Arsenal
The Lyon marksman has scored 72 goals in 173 league appearances (30 as substitute) for the Ligue 1 club and would be an instant upgrade on the options at Gunners boss Arsene Wenger’s disposal.
He would provide the Arsenal manager with the option of more variety in his tactical play, and he could play alongside Olivier Giroud in a 4-4-2 or would be equally as comfortable leading the line on his own.
Will Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger manage to bring Lacazette to the Emirates?
Lacazette possesses blistering pace, a commodity which is vital in the modern game, and is an accomplished finisher.
With Sky Sports claiming that Lyon will expect at least £40 million for their star man, their valuation seems perfectly reasonable in the current climate and it should be a signing that Wenger prioritises over the coming weeks.
