Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to react after hearing what Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder said about them in his pre-match press conference.
As quoted by the Birmingham Mail, the Blades manager said: “Brilliant club, fabulous supporters. I went to watch them against Derby, was late and got caught up entering with Villa fans. I think they are a brilliant club, they are huge and I think only people in football realise how big they are.”
Understandably, these comments have gone down well with the Aston Villa fans on Twitter, who appreciate Wilder’s kind words.
It’s quite big of the Sheffield United boss to be so complimentary of the Villans when his own side are languishing at the bottom of the Premier League.
However, you can see why Wilder appreciates what Villa are about, as there are many similarities between what he’s doing at Bramall Lane, and what Dean Smith is doing at Villa Park.

Firstly, the pair are both boyhood supporters of their sides, and both managed to guide them into the Premier League.
Furthermore, the two used to be teammates at Walsall back in 1989, so they have enjoyed similar experiences in the game both as players and now as managers.

It’s clear that there is a mutual respect between the two managers, which is good to see in an age where some bosses are often critical of one another.
Let’s see what the Villa fans on Twitter have been saying about Wilder’s comments…
