A select round-up of the latest news involving Glasgow Rangers and Celtic.
Rangers manager Mark Warburton
First up is news regarding Rangers’ transfer plans, with Mark Warburton telling the club’s official website that the Gers are in the market for one more signing – a central defender.
With only three senior centre-backs, Warburton outlined the club’s need to strengthen in that department:
“Yeah, we are looking at centre-halves still, we need four. A club like Rangers, we have to be pushing forward, we have to keep getting better, so we have to make sure we have cover in every single position, quality cover as well. That’s the aim of the management.”
Rangers could take a step towards resolving that issue soon, however, as Warburton has suggested that there is one centre-back who could be joining Rangers imminently – Philippe Senderos.

The Rangers boss told a press conference (shown on the club’s official YouTube channel) that he hopes a deal for the defender will be concluded quickly.
Moving on to the green half of Glasgow, Celtic’s frozen-out defender Efe Ambrose is being linked with a move to English Championship side Reading, with Jaap Stam keen to do business if he can agree a cut-price deal with the Hoops hierarchy, according to the Express.
