Jack Wilshere warms up before the game
Writing his column for the Times, former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has offered his opinion on Jack Wilshere’s loan move from Arsenal to Bournemouth, and compared it to Joe Hart being forced out of Manchester City by Pep Guardiola.
Wilshere completed his season-long loan switch to the Vitality Stadium on transfer deadline day, with many pundits calling it a great deal for the player and both clubs involved.
Cascarino disagrees, however, and holds the belief that Arsene Wenger is ‘hassling’ the 24-year-old out of the club:
Jack Wilshere looks dejected
He wrote in the Times: “I’ve heard a lot of people this week putting a very positive spin on Jack Wilshere’s season-long loan to Bournemouth, but the reality is that this move is no different, no less brutal, than Joe Hart being hassled out of Manchester City. This stinks of Wenger wanting him out of the club. He’s done exactly what Pep Guardiola has done to Hart at City.”
During a career that has spanned eight seasons at the Emirates, Wilshere has managed to make only 80 Premier League starts, and now at the age of 24, it is absolutely vital that he plays regularly to enable him to reach his full potential.
With the arrival of Granit Xhaka, Wilshere obviously fell further down the midfield pecking order, and Wenger decided on allowing him to leave on loan for the season.
Cascarino added that he feels Wilshere’s days at Arsenal are numbered, however, and went as far to say he is being forced out of the club:
Jack Wilshere applauds fans after the game
“I have no doubt that Jack would have sat down with the gaffer after the first few games of the season — as many of us do — and it’s clear that Wenger hasn’t given him the answers he wanted. We have to stop kidding ourselves — he’s been forced out of the club.”
Wilshere could make his debut for the Cherries against AC Milan tomorrow in a testimonial match for club legend Warren Cummings, according to Sky Sports.
